Records Bureau
The Ferndale Police Department Records Bureau receives, maintains, and archives police records in compliance with City and Department Policies as well as State Law.
Business hours for the Records Bureau are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday and 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on Fridays (excluding holidays). Any fees may be paid with cash, check, money order, or credit card (convenience fees may apply).

Primary Services
Accident/Traffic Crash Reports Online:
Copies of traffic accident reports (UD10s) are available online through Oakland County CLEMIS (Courts Law Enforcement Management Information System). Reports may be obtained by purchasing Accident/Crash Reports CLEMIS Accident Report Request.
Police Report copies:
Copies of Incident Reports and Calls for Service are obtained through the Records Bureau. Please contact the Records Bureau to confirm that the report or call for service is available. Certain information, which is governed by the state and federal privacy laws, is removed from the report prior to copying. This may include, but is not limited to address, phone numbers, victim, witness, and suspect information as well as medical data.
Fingerprinting:
Fingerprinting services are provided by our Detective Bureau on Tuesday and Wednesday between 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. There is a $10.00 fee per set of cards. You must show proof of Ferndale residency (Michigan Operator’s License/State ID). Residency bills or mail are not accepted. Fingerprinting Services are for Ferndale Residents ONLY. We do not fingerprint Ferndale business owners who their employees who do not reside in the city or Royal Oak Township residents. Royal Oak Township is NOT under the City of Ferndale’s jurisdiction.
Fingerprinting and all other police services for Royal Oak Township must be done through the Michigan State Police at:

*We recommend that you call ahead for print services on the scheduled days. Unexpected “law enforcement incidents” may interrupt the availability of the department’s Detectives to perform printing services.

Local Police Clearances and Adoptions/International Adoptions:
Local background checks are performed to check for contact with the Ferndale Police Department ONLY. We do not check for contact with other police agencies or search for outstanding warrants. Arrest dispositions are not available through the police department. If it’s a Ferndale case, individuals can seek dispositions from the 43rd District Court/Ferndale at:

Portable Breath Tests (PBT):
There is a PBT Automated Breathalyzer Kiosk located in the lobby of the Ferndale Police Department at the disposal of residents and non-residents in need of PBT testing.
Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL):
Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL’s) are issued by Oakland County. You may contact them at (248) 858-0568 with any questions. Application packets can be picked up from the Records Bureau.
License to Purchase (LTP)
You may apply for a License to Purchase Monday – Thursday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Please bring with you a valid Driver’s License with your current address. The License to Purchase application must be notarized before leaving. There is a $10.00 fee for the notary.
